Grandma’s Pasta Sauce
mild Italian sausage
hot Italian sausage
jar Prego "Traditional" tomato sauce
can crushed tomatoes
Preheated oven to 425° F.
Bake sausage links in a foil lined 13”x9” pan for 30 minutes or until nicely browned.
Cook ground beef in a large saucepan over medium high heat until no longer pink.
Drain ground beef and return ground beef to saucepan.
Add garlic powder and stir.
Note: do not discard jar and can of Prego after next step.
Add Prego and crushed tomatoes to saucepan.
Add water to Prego jar and crushed tomato can, add water to saucepan.
Resume cooking over medium heat.
Cool sausage slightly then, using tongs and a sharp knife, chop sausage.
Keep stirring sauce somewhat frequently and add sausage to saucepan.
Simmer gently for 10-15 more minutes.
Serve with pasta of your choice.
Freezes and reheats well.
Recipe can be halved or doubled.
