Hardboiled Eggs – Instant Pot

Need A Hand
Prep Time5 mins
Cook Time20 mins

  • Instant Pot or pressure cooker

  • 6 eggs raw in shell
  • 1 Cup cold water

While the eggs cook:

  • Prepare an ice bath: a big bowl of cold water and ice.
  • The bowl should be big enough to hold ice, water and your eggs.
  • Once the cooker reaches full pressure THEN the 5-minute counter will start counting DOWN.
  • Once those 5 minutes are done, it will beep but you’ll need to let it sit for 5 more minutes.
  • NOTE: no beep will occur after the second 5 minutes.
  • NOTE: the timer will count UP at this time. So either keep an eye on it or set a separate timer.
  • Then carefully release the steam by turning the steam valve to release.
  • Carefully take the eggs out, using tongs or a slotted spoon, and put them in the prepared ice bath for 5 minutes.

Peeling the eggs:

  • Peel eggs one at a time, by tapping the wide side on the counter.
  • Then gently roll across the counter, under the palm of your hand.
  • The shell should slide off very easily.
  • Rinse each egg under running water and dry with a paper towel.

Serving Suggestions:
The eggs can be used for egg salad, deviled eggs, or just as a snack.
